With PEPPOL, you send your invoices directly and encrypted to your customer via an internationally recognized network. They are no longer sent as an email attachment, but end up directly in your customer's accounting system.
You turn PEPPOL on once. For that you need a free account at PEPPYRUS, the service provider that issues the digital key (API key). You link that key to PERIFACT, and after that PEPPOL is ready as a sending option for every invoice.
Step-by-step guide: Activate PEPPOL
STEP 1
Create a free account at PEPPYRUS
Go to peppyrus.be and register your organization. Creating an account is free and is necessary to be able to get a PEPPOL key.
STEP 2
Complete the verification
During registration, PEPPYRUS asks for your company details and proof of identity. This verification is handled entirely by PEPPYRUS, so outside of PERIFACT.
STEP 3
Get your digital key
Upon approval, you will get access to your personal API key. That is the key with which PERIFACT connects to the network. Below you can see where it is located in the PEPPYRUS menu.
STEP 4
Enter the key in PERIFACT
Open PERIFACT and go to Main menu, Settings, PEPPOL. Paste your API key into the designated field and follow the on-screen instructions. From that moment on, PEPPOL is activated.
Pick up your key at PEPPYRUS
Log in to peppyrus.be and go to the main menu in ORGANIZATION and then to API. Your key is ready there:

After this one-time activation, the button will automatically appear when creating an invoice PEPPOL, besides Email, Print and PDF. One click and your invoice goes securely and directly onto the network.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an XML file?
Imagine you are sending an invoice. Normally, you make a PDF out of it: neatly readable for humans. But a computer only sees an image with text in such a PDF and does not know which number is the invoice amount.
A PEPPOL XML file works in the exact opposite way. It is not made to look pretty, but to go from computer to computer. All data is in a fixed location, in an international format that every accounting software can read and process.

Why am I not seeing any PDF in PEPPYRUS?
Because PEPPOL is a fully digital exchange method: the data travels across the network as XML, in a fixed structure that computers can read directly. A PDF is purely intended for human readability and plays no role in the transmission itself.
Do you still want to include the PDF? That is possible starting from PERIFACT V22.8. You can enable it in the main menu SETTINGS, BASIC, tab [PEPPOL].
How do I know if an invoice has actually been sent?
When you click the PEPPOL send button in the invoice screen, PERIFACT reports that the invoice has offered to the network. Offered is not yet the same as processed; that latter usually takes a few seconds.
If you want to know the current status, go to the main menu in PERIFACT PEPPOL and click on REPAINT.
- Is the invoice in the folder SENT, then it has actually been sent.
- Is she in the folder FAILED Rightly so, then something went wrong.
Notice: that can happen with a small delay. Sometimes an invoice is first in SENT and ends up in FAILED a little later anyway. So, if in doubt, check again later.
What does PEPPOL cost?
No extras. PEPPOL is included in PERIFACT and you can create the required PEPPYRUS account for free.
